WHAT MAKES AN AWARD WINNING BEER?

new

PURE PASSION

When it comes to hard work, they say that you only get out what you put in.  In the case of our quality beers, you get the best ales from what we put in, passion, care and three decades of brewing experience, but also from what we don’t put in.  Fantastic ales free from additives, preservatives or substitutions thanks to the Manx Pure Beer Act.

The Hooded Ram team combines both traditional and cutting edge brewing techniques to produce innovative, award winning beers and nothing goes out of the door that we don’t love drinking ourselves!

MANX PURITY LAW 1874

The Isle of Man Pure Beer Act (also known as the Manx Pure Beer Act) is a law on the Isle of Man regulating the ingredients in beer. Enacted by Tynwald, the Island's Government in 1874, it stated that only natural ingredients were allowed to be used in the production of beer.

CRAFTED BY HAND – BREWED WITH SOUL – BORN IN THE ISLE OF MAN.

WHAT MAKES A GREAT BEER?

Beer Finest Leaf Hops

All Hooded Ram beers are made with the very best internationally sourced leaf hops from across the globe, including England, America, Australia, New Zealand, Slovenia and France. Hops are by far the most expensive ingredient in any beer and we use more than most.  What’s more, we then use even more of them. The quantity and quality of the hops we use is reflected in the unique depth of flavour in every single pint.

Crystal Clear Water

The Isle of Man is well known for its pure waters and the island boasts some of the softest and purest waters in the world.  Our well-funded, non-privatised water authority prides itself on its stringent quality controls, carrying out over 42,500 tests annually. As a result, the superior quality of the island’s drinking water needs no additional purification as part of our brewing process, which is something we are extremely proud of.

Marvellous Malts

Our premium malt store is home to eighteen varieties of the very best of British.  As well as giving balance and consistency to every brew, it allows us the flexibility we need to experiment with innovative blends in our development brews and our adaptability has resulted in some amazing award winners that we love putting our name to.

Last but not Yeast

Our great beers are made with what we consider to be the four best yeasts out there, allowing us to craft the finest English and American style ales, Belgian sours and classic wheat beers. As with all ingredients we use at the Hooded Ram Brewery, only the very best will make the grade so that we can continue to deliver unrivalled quality.
